Last week we went to our daughter’s first Clover Kids Club meeting. Clover Kids is an extension of 4-H, designed for children ages 5 to 7. It is an incredibly fun and enriching activity, filled with nature exploration and learning as well as everything from puppetry to arts and crafts, field trips to singing and games. Best of all, it’s all about kids playing with other kids, as well as with family members, and my daughter certainly loves it already.
I’m not sure if membership dues vary with each region, but ours are $19 annually, which is amazing, since it covers snacks, materials, and many other activities. Other projects and activities may require other fees as they come up; for example, we are doing a butterfly project next weekend for $5. Still, it’s incredibly reasonable (fundraising is also involved in the project).
To visit your local Clover Kids Club and see if it’s good for your child, search for your county and “4-H” or “Clover Kids Club” online and contact the representative nearest you. There are likely several groups that you could look into; there were four in our county that we contacted. The one we joined seems awesome; on our first visit, we took a hike, did a scavenger hunt, made snake habitats and learned about snakes on cards, met a real snake and skink, had snacks, and played games—all in an hour and a half!
